Parish Risk Management Program

Managing risk as a key aspect of our governance and ministry

Why it matters

Risk Is Inherent In Everything We Do

Risk is inherent in everything we do, as individuals, groups or organisations. Even doing nothing carries risk. For any organisation or group, when its activities become larger and more complex it becomes more difficult to keep on top of the risks that swirl around us.

ISO 31000 is an international Standard through which the practice of risk management is standardised across the globe. We have adopted this Standard to guide our risk management work here at St Jude's, and we are assisted through materials supplied by the Sydney Diocese.

Your Parish Council has established a Risk Management Sub-Committee to oversee our Parish Risk Management Program.

Our framework

Our Risk Management Policy

We recognise that managing risk is a key aspect of our Parish governance and ministry.
Our Risk Management Policy rests on three connected parts.

A

Parish Risk Management Policy

Details our commitment, objectives, responsibilities and framework for risk management. Approved and reviewed by Parish Council.

B

Parish Risk Register

The centrepiece of our risk management. It details our risk landscape across seven domains, key risks, an assessment of control adequacy, action plans for control enhancement, and continuous control monitoring arrangements.

C

Risk Management Procedures, Tools and Operating Procedures

Detailed procedures and resources to assure appropriate and consistent approaches are taken in how we do things.
